A BLOG WAS BORN February 6, 2011

There are a many people who have helped or supported me in one way or another over the last several months, but a few I want to publicly acknowledge.

Without Debbie Goldberg of Fresh Brothers Pizza, this blog would not exist.  I am proud to call her my very good friend, who kindly listened to all my job hunting stories over the last year or so, as friends do, until one day she said, “Lisa, you have to start a blog about this, some of it’s unbelievable, and I’m sure there are others that don’t have any idea how different it is in this market, etc.”  From there she continued to…”nudge” me about it. ;-)    That is just one of MANY ways Debbie has shown her love and support.  She is constantly keeping her eye out for work for me, talking me up, sending me links, etc.  Again, she’s my friend and I love her.

In September I attended an event put on by Laura Filipowicz of Bag Lady Promotions.  I had become a member of her networking group (although it’s so much more), and really felt the core of what she was doing, building relationships so that the business could come.   So the conference attendance was a given, and did not disappoint, by far one of the best conferences I had been to, so much great information and networking/relationship building.  I am now a part of her advisory board and am very excitedly anticipating this year’s convention in September.

That brings me now to another woman, Ann Evanston, social media guru, who was a speaker at that conference, and let me tell you, what a hell of a speaker!  She focused on social media networking, and spent a lot of time on blogging.  I feverishly took notes; she was actually de-mystifying it for me, making me feel excited about it.  Debbie elbowed me a few times during this presentation, and after a couple of months of prepping, procrastination, and more encouragement from Debbie, this blog was born.

Without these three women, it would have never happened.  I respect them immensely and look forward to building even stronger and more supportive relationships with them.

On a personal note, I could not have found the time, inspiration, or energy to keep plugging away, trying to figure this thing out, without my personal support system.  My hubby, although he doesn’t read th e bl og (probably a good thing), nor does he get the whole thing, he’s trying to be supportive.  He does a lot around here in evening when he gets home!  And let me tell you, I have an awesome group of friends that read and keep cheering me on, that’s such a fabulous feeling, it excites me to post again!

Lastly, those beautiful, near perfect children that grace my life every day, my 5-year-old twins, they keep me real, grounded, and remind of what it’s all about for me.

Thank you ALL, I can’t say enough, but then again, look at the length of this damn post!!  ☺  I am just not capable of keeping in short.

I am so happy and excited for you Lisa! Our stories matter. When we don’t tell them they never have the opportunity to inspire and heal others! I tell so many of my clients that their blog can be MORE than just posts about “what you do” be who you are!

So true Ann, in fact, I’ve had a couple people comment to me lately “What is it exactly that you do?” I’m working on that answer… :)

What wonderful blessings you have received and it is so nice that you are sharing with others — it is very encouraging and uplifting to know about all the wonderful people out there that so unselfishly do what they can to support and uplift someone who is in need. No matter what is happening in the news around the world, it just warms my heart and grows my faith when I read stories like yours! Thank you for sharing, especially about your wonderful family!

lisawifemom - February 7, 2011

Thanks Donna, it is true, I have so many people in my life that give without expecting to receive. It’s heart-warming.

4. Manhattan Beach Momma - February 7, 2011

You are the sister from another mother that I never had, girlfriend!

I am proud to be your friend and head cheerleader. And I am really proud of you – you’ve really stretched your wings. I can’t wait to see where this blog leads you!

lisawifemom - February 7, 2011

You and me both Debbie, you and me both.

I received an email today from someone who “accidentally” clicked on my blog link in an email, read the home page, and then emailed me to say she works for an employment agency, I should send her my resume, etc. You just never know…

5. Louise Edington - February 7, 2011

Hey woman – we’ll get you on Ann’s bootcamp soon (or will you get some of that through CCAP? – if you stick at that). I’m so glad to have got to know you and others through Laura’s conference and can’t wait to meet up with you all in 2 weeks!

Looking forward to seeing you!!

6. Laurie Hurley - February 7, 2011

Lisa – first it was great to meet you this weekend and second – kudos for you for putting yourself out there and learning something that was new and scary for you. As I have learned, sharing personal stories about ourselves makes us more “real”. I love your post for that very reason!

lisawifemom - February 7, 2011

Laurie, I was thrilled to meet you in person as well! I’m not sure I considered myself a private person before, but I do feel like I’m really letting it all hang out now, and I think I’m ok with it.

7. Rachel H Blaufeld - February 7, 2011

9. Irene Turner - February 8, 2011

Way to go Lisa. Yes, Ann too helped me start my blog. She’s the best. I’m excited for you too. I look forward to writing mine now every week, and while I still sometimes wonder what else I will write about there’s always something. It’s nice to have a support system and it sounds like you have a terrific one. I look forward to hearing your story.

lisawifemom - February 8, 2011

Thanks Irene, it’s all a very exciting process.

10. Robbie Schlosser - February 8, 2011

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for writing this refreshing post! It’s so nice when people publicly thank the friends who support them. We should all do this more often.

And congratulations for starting your blog recently. It will help enlarge your group of friends, to encourage you even more.

Hi Lisa,
Good for you to be able to find a voice through blogging. As many others I learned about blogging from Ann and although I can easily sit down & write a training program I found blogging more difficult. I equate it to being constipated. I KNOW SOMETHING IS IN THERE – IT JUST WON’T COME OUT. (just tweeted that quote) HA! HA! Its become increasingly easy especially as I’m going through the boot camp again. Best wishes.

“No man is an island.” It’s been nearly 400 years since John Donne wrote those words… and still it’s refreshing to see when a man (or in this case, a woman: YOU) sees, feels and acknowledges the people who been the earth beneath her feet, the inspiration in her breath, or the fire in her belly to create something new.

Yea: A Blog is Born!

lisawifemom - February 10, 2011

Wow Tambra, so well said! Thanks.
